Through the story of Caritas, a beautiful Tutsi girl, and her life in the village of Nyamata, the author Ludovica Iaccino a reporter for International Business Times, leads the readers through the events that culminated in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Conducting extensive research in order to collect facts and shed light on one of the worst massacres of modern history, her passion for reporting about Africa, with a focus on human rights in lived through this book, of truth and fictional romantic twists.

Ludovica tells iEcoAfrica:

I was about 18 when I started writing this book and what prompted me to embark on this adventure, was the fact that I had been completely unaware of the Rwandan genocide, until stumbling on an internet page. I soon realised that like me, many others also did not know about it.

This genocide is one of the worst massacres to occur in modern history and one of the most underreported. For this reason, I felt the urge to let the world know and speak for those who cannot reach western media.

The character of Caritas is completely fictional, I tried to imagine a normal girl who discovers love for the first time. I tried to create characters who could perfectly fit in any scenario and the more their stories intertwine and progress, the more the genocide threatens their lives.

Even if only one person completely unaware of the genocide happens to read my book, then I can consider my job done. The main aim of this story is to teach others that genocides still occur and they all deserve the same attention.

I hope people can understand the immensity of what happened, I hope they can realise how much people suffered, I also hope readers will keep Caritas in their hearts forever and look at life in a different way, because one day, maybe, we could be in the same situation as her. However, the story will not continue as the end I chose for the book was, according to my opinion, perfect.

E’ una strana e casuale coincidenza il fatto che proprio in questo periodo, esca il libro che ha venduto tantissime copie in italiano, tradotto in inglese.E’ una coincidenza che fa pensare alle stragi che l’uomo compie con la scusa delle religioni, delle razze e delle ideologie, in realtà, altro non sono, che la massima espressione dell’odio.

Il genocidio in Ruanda fu uno dei più sanguinosi di tutta la storia del ventesimo secolo.

In poco più di tre mesi le vittime furono ottocentomila.

– Il silenzio di Nyamata, 10 aprile 1994:

Attraverso la storia di Caritas, una splendida ragazza Tutsi, della sua vita nel villaggio e del suo primo amore, l’autrice, racconta l’atroce genocidio avvenuto in Ruanda nel 1994.

Ludovica Iaccino ha impiegato più di 5 anni per documentarsi e raccontare questo terribile avvenimento affrontando svariati argomenti quali la religione, la morte, l’odio etnico e l’amore.

Un libro, che farà arrabbiare e indignare chi ancora non sa cosa successe quel 10 aprile del 1994.

Dopo la Francia e il Lussemburgo,  anche l’Italia, ( il ministro Franceschini), sfida l’Unione Europea portando l’IVA degli e-book da 22% al 4% come per i libri in cartaceo.

Fino ad oggi erano considerati come i dvd,  multimediali ecc con l’iva (per l’Italia) al 22% , Non è giusto!

Inoltre questo, faceva si, che i grandi editori mettessero quasi lo stesso prezzo di un libro in cartaceo e di un e-book, cosa comunque disonesta perché i costi senza la carta sono assai ridotti, ora non hanno più scuse lo stesso libro deve avere un prezzo molto inferiore se venduto in e-book piuttosto che in cartaceo. Io come tanti altri editori abbiamo fatto così da sempre, ma i soliti grandi sul mercato dell’editoria, no, ora lo usano come nuova forma di promozione facendosi “grandi” ad abbassare il prezzo  di tutti gli e-book, ma avrebbero, a mio avviso,  comunque dovuto farlo da tempo.

La cosa positiva: l’incremento di vendite degli e-book

Ma chi è il ghost writer? che cosa spinge una persona a fare questo mestiere? qualcuno di voi lo farebbe?

Il ghost writer è uno scrittore fantasma, cioè colui che viene pagato per scrivere libri, articoli e pubblicazioni per conto di altri, la stessa cosa può avvenire in campo musicale. Il suo nome non apparirà mai da nessuna parte, il suo libro apparterrà ad un altro “autore”. Che cosa spinge una persona a fare questo? i soldi, è un mestiere come un altro, ma cosa spinge invece colui che lo paga? che soddisfazione potrà mai avere una persona vedendo il “suo” libro pubblicato con il proprio nome pur sapendo di non averlo scritto? fama e successo. Due persone collaborano ad un solo progetto avendo esattamente due obiettivi opposti.
